Tough spot with large set
CO's line was so obtuse, I was debating folding on turn... but I figure there is enough possibility of 55/being a donkey to call...
CO is 52/15/1.2, Button is 35/15/1.7 Poker Stars Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $15/$30 5 players Converter Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, CO raises, Button 3-bets, Hero caps, BB folds, CO calls, Button calls. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (13SB, 3 players) Hero bets, CO calls, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, CO caps, Button calls, Hero calls. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (12.5BB, 3 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Button raises, Hero calls, CO 3-bets, Button calls, Hero calls. River: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (21.5BB, 3 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Button calls, Hero calls. Results: Final pot: 24.5BB |

Re: Tough spot with large set
if you never fold a set, you havent made that much a mistake. Especially against these donkeys.

Re: Tough spot with large set
the only mistake you make is to debate folding, so long as you don't do it, its alright.

Re: Tough spot with large set
Folding would never enter my mind here. I would 3-bet the turn feeling pretty good about my hand. Sure this could be QQ, but flushdraws, QJ or 55 will often play like this (possibly AA or KK as well).

What the hell, bet/cap the turn, bet/cap the river.

Re: Tough spot with large set
The only way I'd check the turn would be if I was positive it would be bet behind me and I didn't think I could bet/3bet. I'm not too sad if it gets capped on the turn. I probably would want to put in 2 bets on the river as well.

Re: Tough spot with large set
This is an interesting/awesome way to play the hand...except you forgot to raise the river. Cap the turn and then lead the river. You are probably way ahead, you need to get more money in here.

Re: Tough spot with large set
is there something here that I am not getting. Your opponents has 6 or 7 legit holdings and you are ahead of all but 1 of them. Jam every street.
