How do you speculate an Expected Value (EV)?
In Sklanskys Tournament Poker (for advanced players) he mentions that in a 10/20 holdem game, depending on game and skill level, you can speculate that a pair of aces would hold an EV of around $60.
He then asks you to speculate what the EV of raising UTG with a 10,Js compared to limping with 10,Js. Can anyone explain how to get results? Much appreciation... |

Re: How do you speculate an Expected Value (EV)?
I don't know the formula, I asked this question a week back and got a response that went something like "use the [censored] search button n00b!!". ill be a little nicer, I would think to read his book on poker theory to get the equation. or, as one helpful person in my thread said try searcing google like this: "expected value" site:twoplustwo.com
you'll get a lot of help that way. |

Re: How do you speculate an Expected Value (EV)?
IMO - TJs makes lots of $ when it his, but doesn't hit very often. And when you do hit hard w/TJs its usually a very good (ie nutz) hand. Therefore the more people you have in the hand the better. I say limping is more ev than raising obv TONZ of variables (player types, stack sizes etc) blah blah... but I say limp
