As this is a fairly frequent kind of hand, it's important to notice the advantages of betting the turn:

-We may have the best hand, and so it might be for value. Even if we're behind, we likely have many outs to improve.
-It allows us get an win bet in when we hit on the river, while costing the same if we call the river
-It makes our river decision much easier
-We usually don't mind if our opponent folds on the turn
