I shoved (but then wondered after the fact whether I should have called to try to induce further callers to increase my pot odds, which is why I made this post). UTG+1 thought for a few minutes, then called with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Qx. SB had KxJ[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] The poker gods gave me a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the river and MHIG.

very nice sir

At first I was thinking of shoving, but I really like the mini-raise comment that is actually really good to do that in this spot.

In some cases ya, but in your spot pushing all in the flop does look like "pushing a flush draw".

The smaller re-raise represents more of a made hand and would be very deceptive. You may get yourself a free turn card this way also.

Live games play a little bit more passively. I mix between calling and shoving, but I'm not folding.

The best shoving does for us here in terms of folding equity is buying 2 outs. Shoving is ok and +EV but I think calling is better. If UTG pushes a blank turn then fold, if he checks then awsome, check behind. You've just gotten to see 2 more cards for only $125, that's awsome. Either way your flop call was greatly +EV.

Even without knowing the results UG+1 has priced you into the pot, so folding would not be an option for me.

I like both the min raise and shove plays. If you min raise, miss the turn and UG+1 shoves, you still have a mandatory call here. You can't know it, but so does he.

My personal preference is for the min raise on the flop as it prices in a smaller flush draw and there is still a chance that you will get checked to on the turn and get to the river without committing your whole stack.

Another reason I like to min raise in your postition is that after rebuying it might look like you are trying to buy the pot after suffering a bad beat. Then UG+1 might try to trap by checking a big hand to you and let you hang yourself on the turn. At that point you can either hang yourself or take the free card.

Thanks Nick. But, isn't "fold equity" in this case giving you a greater benefit than just the 2 outs -- in the form of a significant amount of dead money in the pot?
