That's why even if Corp. Mike is reckless, ruthless aggression and a complete disregard for money is oftentimes going to be preferable to playing scared to the point where you'll only call big river bets with the nuts. My best friend many think is a terrible player because in NL games he plays "too many hands" -- but he plays well post-flop and couldn't care less about bluffing thousands into a big NL pot ... which is why he is a bigger winner in the local games than many who play "better" than he does. (Obviously, I'm not saying Corp. Mike is sans leaks in his game -- Bart and Tuch explain them often enough -- but I think he also doesn't get the credit he deserves, like in this very spot where he got a pot he shouldn't've gotten.) |
