Re: One Band for the Rest of your life
[ QUOTE ]
But yeah, some of these answers are horrific. Incubus is the thread's leading vote-getter? Really? [/ QUOTE ] See, the thing with incubus is that, assuming you get past Drive as being their "most famous song" (and really, if you judge them on that you have no idea who incubus really is) is that every single album they put out has a totally different style and feel. Are they the best band of all time? No. Are they even in the conversation? Probably not. And this coming from someone who is definitely biased. But they are a band that i feel like i could listen to based off the drastic range of material they have. I mean, if i didn't pick incubus then Zepp, Phish, and DMB would be up there in contention. And last time we did this thread, didn't the beatles come out with the most nominations? No offense, and i love the beatles, but if i had to listen to only them for more than a few days i would want to gouge my eyes out. While they are amazing, much of what i have heard of them just seem to have the same kind of easier going flow to it. It would just wear on me very quickly. As cliche as it is, incubus just seems to cover all the bases for me. And they have done enough touring, bootlegged enough stuff, and come out with enough material to get my vote. Do you care? Probably not. Anyways, my two cents. |

hm i thouhgt a long time about this one. (sry if my typing is off, im drunk.). got it down to these: van morriosn elvis costello beatles vu r.e.m. i think that elvis wins, although van is a close, close secnod. elvis just has such a big catalogue (yes, van does too). his eclecticism (i don't think that this is a word. one can be an eclectic, or something can be electic as and adjective, but i don't think taht there is a noun form other than a personal descriptive noun (god damn, forgot the right word there)) just wins him over. thoguhts? [/ QUOTE ] this is a great list. i should have given r.e.m. more consideration. and elvis c. is a genius songwriter. i'd probably put those two high up on my list (and i love van morrison and vu, too). |

very suprised radiohead hasn't been mentioned in this thread [/ QUOTE ] Radiohead is a good pick. Tool is a a great band, but would never be able to listen to them exclusively. |
