Sounds like a horrible way to die.

Not to be gruesome but just cut it's head off. Much quicker and I would think less suffering.

With Rattlesnakes around here we usually try to get the head cut off, beat it to death with a shovel (Then cut the head and rattles off) or use a shotgun. I was out bowhunting a few years back and we ran into a rattlesnake and the guy I was with used an arrow to hold it's head down and then stepped on it's head and cut it off.

What you need is to move in with the lathe guy. then you can have snakes on a lathe.
