Re: Post your 2006 goals/challenge in this thread:
my goal is very ambitious - but i want to make 70k. I started this summer (seriously) at 1/2 6max and am just about at 15/30. If I can bring myself to play between 15 and 20k hands a month I don't think this will be a problem.
I have done very well live and would like to play more live poker in AC, maybe twice a month, as the stakes I play have gotten high enough that it is worth the trip there (5 hours round trip to play 3/6 just doesn't cut it). |

Re: Post your 2006 goals/challenge in this thread:
[ QUOTE ]
Homer - Are you playing full-time these days or teaching or what? quick life-update please. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I'm teaching full-time. That's part of the reason my goal is to make some decent money on the side while only having to put in 10-15 hours a week. I rarely play poker now, maybe an average of 2-3 hours a week just for kicks. Most of the time I'm gambling now, it's either casino whoring or sports arbitrage. I'm definitely more suited to those as opposed to poker, as it's more hands-off. I run calcs, make a decision and go with it, and if I lose, oh well -- it doesn't bother me. With poker, I get stressed out too easily, even when much smaller sums of money are involved. Anyhoo, I'll probably start playing poker a little more as WSOP qualifiers pick up next year. I'd like to get out to Vegas next summer for the main event, or if not that, at least one of the 1-3K events. |

Re: Post your 2006 goals/challenge in this thread:
I like these types of posts so....here it goes...
I am probably going to finish this year down about 2K(no concept of money management, NONE!) after I was up about 6.5K in 2004(dumbluckness). I feel as though since the beginning of my summer that my game has really started to improve and I am making a lot of progress. So basically what I want to do in 2006 is make a decent amount of money just hardcore grinding it out on PR playing sngs and low limit games. Then once I have a decent amoutn of money to work with I want to cash out some money to have fun with, and then move the rest of it over to PP so I can play the 3-6, 5-10, 10-20 O8 and Stud8 games. I also wouldnt mind putting some money back in UB to play more 2-7. I guess now that I am thinking about it I also wouldnt mind keeping money in PR so I can play Chinese poker(just started playing tihs week, awesome gambling game). So yeah...after six months of 06 it would be cool if I... Cash out 2500 to do awesome things with Move 2500 from PR to PP to do awesome things with(this would be the new BR I guess) Leave like 500 in the PR account to play chinese pokah(gamble fun) Put 500 in UB to play 2-7(gamble fun) This is only the second time I have actually set a goal for myself playing poker and the first time I ended up not even coming close to making it. I wanted to make 2500 over the summer, and since the beginning of the summer I am barely up...at all. Money management is really my biggest problem. I have gotten A LOT better over the past six months with no tilting and such but I still play drunk A LOT, which is bad. So yeah, we will see how this works out...it probably wont!!! hahahah but if this does work out it would be pretty cool. We will just have to see if I can stay focused and make a couple hundred bucks a week playing the 22s or am I going to [censored] around playing drunk in games I have no business playing in....like saturday night when I was playing 2-2 PLO8(stupid!). We shall see I guess...I need to write this down somewhere because I probably wont remember to look at this thread ever again...alright im done now...flame away oh yeah my current poker assets are as follows... EXACTLY 1500 in the PR account Withdrew 200 for foxwoods this friday Another 249$ that I consider to be poker money(I play live poker on a somewhat frequent basis) Damn that makes me depressed, ive actually played pretty solid over the past 6 or 7 months but I have had like literally...maybe 25 days or so where I have lost way too much money, like in the range of 250-500 dollars in a day. Ive only had one day like that in past month or so though...damn im blabbering. sorry |

Re: Post your 2006 goals/challenge in this thread:
Start playing SNG's again, 1,500 for the year (25-30% ROI) to mix things up.
Continue to play $2/$4, but more consistently and move up to 1.25bb/100 (current is 1bb/100) and get a bonus on each and every hand I play. Hands goal 2006= 250,000 hands May experiment at the end of the 2006 to moving from 8 tables up to 12. Try to score at least a $5,000 MTT win, this year was weak for MTT's (biggest = $1,500) Stop being such a crybaby when things are running badly. |

Build my roll from $5k to $20k.
Grow a sack and move from $50 & $100 NL to $600 NL as the roll permits. |
