I check. There's a lot of money in this pot for just TPTK. Villain has called two nearly pot-sized bets with what? AK? AQ? If he raised and called with AJ you're beat. I can't see him calling all the flop and turn bets with any pocket pairs other than ones that have you beat: AA & JJ.

Why would you shove here for ~$40 more? What does villain call with that hero beats? maybe AQ, AT doubtful. hero gets called predominantly by hands that beat him.

I check this or make smaller value bet that might get called by a worse hand.

I fundamentally agree with you, Cobra. But if you make a value bet here, what do you do if the villain shoves?

I call. My thought being that if i value bet here then there is a higher chance i get paid off by a worse hand then if i just shove. Although i admit a river checkraise would be depressing and a difficult to deal with. That being said, I rarely see a river checkraise here the way the hand has played out. But i gotta go with my read. i usually pick up fairly quickly which players are calling down and which players are sly/patient enough to go for the river check riaise w a monster in this type of situation. Thus i check behind on river if i think they are super trappy and bet for value if they cant get off a worse A.

In all honesty i check this river %90 of the time and that may be a weak leak of mine.

I check. Very nice pot to win with top pair--why risk it?

stacks are pretty deep. unless he's a horrendous player, i typically bet a bit smaller on all streets, no real reason to pot pot pot pot pot pot. i think that you can shove in this instance due to stack sizes and feel good about it most times.
