$10 MP2 with 8-8
Ok, so how bad is this?
I could have just mucked em PF, but everyone was playing pretty tight-weak after the flop, and I figured I was in a 2 or 3way pot at most. I almost re-raised to isolate PF, but no one seemed to grasp pot odds too well & there were no calling stations, so I figured they were all folding back to maybe UTG, and I didn't want to commit a huge chuck of my stack to this pot....which of course I did anyway... Absolute Poker No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t25/t50 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t3345 UTG+1: t1285 MP1: t1715 Hero: t1455 MP3: t1635 CO: t495 Button: t1010 SB: t1400 BB: t1160 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls t50 (pot was t75), UTG+1 raises to t150, MP1 folds, Hero calls t150 (pot was t275), MP3 raises to t450, 6 folds, Hero calls t300 (pot was t875). Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (t1175, 2 players) Hero is all-in t1005, MP3 calls t1005 (pot was t2180). Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (t3185, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t3185) River: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t3185, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t3185) Results: Final pot: t3185 I put him on either A-K or a medium pair, so realistically, I can only beat 6-6 down to AK... But didn't know how else to play this flop after calling PF. Not sure how else to play this after the flop...owned myself Nick |

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
To be honest, I understood very little of your explanation....but I would fold this pf. MP3 has your crushed and you're not deep enough to try to hit a set.
You should have folded to the first raise, let alone the re-raise. The flop push is horrid. You're very very beat here..... |

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
yea, i am a little fuzzy here, that is a really small range to put someone on at this level of blinds...i think you could put him on KQs or TT+ too so i think this is a fold, i imagine you called his reraise on preflop for set value? you are most likely crushed or a coin flip...i doubt that you are ahead here, i think you can pick better spots.

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
Please fold pre-flop. The last this you want to do is be playing a pre-flop raiser with a bunch of overs on the board and 88 in your hand.

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
yeah it's an all around horrible play, I'm not arguing that.
My logic was that I was seeing people pulling re-raise PF, check-fold post-flop types of plays so I figured I could aggress the flop, but this was a bad spot and bad flop. thx |

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
it is good that you are aware of the table dynamics...all plays should be read dependant. put someone on a good range and say a little about their play and the correct play is a little easier to analyze IMO.

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
You are calling with 10% of your stack with a hand that mostly has set value. I think the limit for a call like this is around 5% tops.

Re: $10 MP2 with 8-8
yeah you are playing 88 for set value and you have not got the implied odds, fold pf.
