maybe what you shuld try is once you are up from you initial buyin .... play on your winnings only, take the buyin off the table (or move to a different table and play only for 1 buyin)... surprised noone has offered a staking deal yet
GOOD LUCK

Possible you are not good enough for high stakes.

Play low and concentrate on Bonus-Whoring, this way you have a less risk and 10K / year are relative easy possible.

negative its dam boring and you need time.......its like work.

Sorry to hear of your troubles OP. Wondering whether the talk of compulsive gambling is a bit on the harsh side though. In my humble opinion it appears that you are missing bankroll management here, whatever else you do - accepting that without solid BR Management even the best players in the world risk going broke - is the key.

Maybe you could try the '20 buyin' schedule for starters and best of luck for 2007.

Cheers,

Why is talk about compulsive gambling harsh? It sure sounds like a problem at the very least. The OP has a seriously self-destructive pattern of behavior. Step 1 (not of the 12, but of the "willing to change" kind): You've identified the behavior. Step 2: Do you really want to do anything about it?

OP's problem might not be compulsive gambling, but there is absolutely no harm in treating it as if it is, because treatment for compulsive gambling is going to be a whole lot more successful than keeping on, doing the same thing over and over again.

This is the part that people don't seem to get: Even if it's not compulsive gambling, assuming that it is won't really have any bad consequences. In other words, give up the gambling. Cold turkey. Forever. If that sounds like an unreasonable thing to do, then you've got a problem. If you don't have a problem, then it should be pretty easy. Yeah, it's kind of a bummer to give up a hobby, but if that's all it is, then there's plenty of other stuff out there to do instead.

(And before people start clamoring about giving up potential income: it's pretty clear that poker ain't a source of income for this guy, so it's a net financial gain to give it up. It's possible that IF he isn't a compulsive gambler, and IF he learns to control his behavior, and IF he improves his game to the point of being a winning player, then he could be a winning, non-compulsive gambler. But that's a lot of IFs, up against the certainty of the place he's in right now.)

Mathematically, it sound like you are due for a hot streak. I suggest you deposit the rest of your savings and play high stakes no limit hold'em until you strike gold.

cts,

if there's one forum where there is no place for this kind of stuff, it is this one.

Seriously, say that [censored] all you want in bbv, but honestly, do you not have enough money and enough fish? You really think you need to destroy this guy for an extra grand or two in your bankroll?

People come here when they are at the end of their road. I know when I was in this spot people posting encouraging things really helped me get through it, so have some respect man. We are all equals in life.

When i first started poker like most i did this, you need to under stand the concept of bankroll management. Which is having enough money to over come the variance(luck) in poker.
If you look at some of the graphs of winning players that are posted on this site you see it goes up and down little bits at a time which is the luck involved but from there start to the end of there month it has gone up, which is the skill portion of poker. Chris Ferguson once said in one given hand it could be 99% luck but in a year it could be 99% skill. Next time you have $1000 start off at $50NL that will be 20 buy ins just enough to start a bankroll, when you get up to $2000 move up and only play $100NL always remember to have 20 buy ins for that game, if you start to lose whether getting bad beats or out played move down. If you feel you can't do this you need to get help like others said, but I used to be like you and figured out that being a long term winning poker player was only partially done at the tables.

1) 20 Buy In Bankroll
2) Move down when you go under 20 buy ins
3) Move up when your bankroll allows it if you feel you want to or can beat the game
4) Choose good games, play bad players, you will have plenty of time to play good ones when you move up
5) Control your emotions if you feel you are playing bad QUIT, wether for the day or for acouple hours.
