Default Poker Stars has the same sounds as Absolute???

I dl'd poker stars for the very first time today, and low and behold, it sounds exactly the same as Absolute!! Is something wrong with my computer? I'm in a minority in not caring about the look of AP, but I strongly dislike their sound effects. Fwiw, the animation at Poker Stars seems glacial. I know my computer is a year old, but I figured that a card room with such a reputation would provide better.

The only sound I dislike on AP is the double-check, which is not the same on my install of Pokerstars.

Oddly, the animations on my AP client are slower than my PS client, too.

Deleting and changing sound files is easy for almost all sites. Google wav and mp3 files. Set up a folder to copy and paste the ones you like. (keep em short) . Rename and copy them to the right program file to replace ones you don't like. My faves are bird chirps, dog barks and blues guitar riffs.(Or Governor Arnie saying "you son of a bitch") Gets my attention better. I replace the 'your turn' 'wake up' 'notify', etc. files and delete all annoying chip and table sounds that can't be disabled.

Have a back-up sound folder for each site to use when an up-date puts the defaults back.

I couldn't change UB.
For P'stars you have to sign on every time with the pokerstars.exe command, not the default pokerstarsUpdate.exe or your new sounds will be replaced. Use the update weekly though to keep caught up with changes, then use your back-ups.

good luck

That's a very good idea. I will have to do some experiments of my own with the sound files.

Sometimes I just wonder whether the creators of the software actually use it (others included).

i use the following .bat file to keep my background and never miss an update. you can make lines for all the files you are changing. put this code in the star's program folder or give full paths.
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre> move Gx\bg.jpg Gx\bg.jpg.bak
move Gx\bgnorm.jpg Gx\bg.jpg
PokerStarsUpdate.exe
move Gx\bg.jpg Gx\bgnorm.jpg
move Gx\bg.jpg.bak Gx\bg.jpg </pre><hr />
