It takes 6 months to a year to get a gaming liscense in the state of New Jersey. Just a heads up. [/ QUOTE ]That is an IMPORTANT bit of information... You have any information on what I need to qualify specifically? Links would be fine... |

Re: Any Atlantic City Poker Dealers Here?
Okay, one thing I just found out is that I need to be a New Jersey resident in order to get a gaming licence. I will shift my apartment search to Camden and Cherry Hills now...

shift my apartment search to Camden [/ QUOTE ] you might want to shift a little more... unless you're hooked on crack and/or an established gang member, then you'll be all set assuming you want to be equidistant from center city and atlantic city there are tons of nice south jersey towns to live in that are very affordable, use south jersey craigslist for starters |

Re: Any Atlantic City Poker Dealers Here?
and Cherry Hill is about as expensive as you can get.
Depending on exactly where in Philly you are working, I suggest finding a place somewhere within a reasonable range (10-15 minutes) of the PATCO line and just taking the train in. Where I live its a short shot and under an hour to the Borgata. Best way in my book for getting to either locale (though I don't work in Philly). The line basically runs through Camden County if that helps. |

The people I work for are more the "Casino Nights" things - parties with "fun" gambling that doesn't involve real money, that sort of thing. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, I'm not sure who is doing those these days. I knew a couple dealers that did a coupel thigns with them way back when, btu they quickly lost interest in that. |

Yes it does take a while to get your license, but it doesn't always take 6 months. I applied this time last year and I had it in about 2 months. If you're thinking of working in Atlantic city the only thing I can see stopping you is the fact that you'll be moving to Philly. From what I remember you need to be an NJ resident to be approved for a license. Also, no felonies. Unless you're going to philly for school I would suggest some nice areas here in Jersey. The only school I can recommend is ace casino school where I went. It's a great place, the teachers are fantastic and they work with the casinos and do alot to get you work. I had a job within a month of finishing school. PM me if you need any more info. |
