50/100 how much action?
If this is the wrong forum, please move. I'm playing in a live private game that's really good. Nine people playing, dealer's choice, and the dealer called 50/100 limit, though most people only have about 1500 in front of them and a few have less than 800. None of the players in this hand are short-stacked, though.
Three people limp to me on the button, and I raise with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] . SB folds but everyone else calls. Flop comes down the glorious 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and the BB checks and first limper, who I haven't seen play limit before but plays a TAG NL game with lots of limping small pairs and suited connectors UTG, bets out. second limper folds, third limper (who is a terrible call station) calls. I raise, BB folds, UTG 3bets, station calls two cold, I cap it figuring that I'm ahead of twopair and if UTG has a set, the equity from the station calling will get split between us. Turn comes 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG leads, station calls. Q1: How many bets should I be putting in here? Q2: How many bets should I be putting in on a 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river? Thanks for the help. It's been a while since I've played limit. |

Q1: one, just call.
Q2: one, call or bet when checked to. |

Re: 50/100 how much action?
The turn's a definite call.
In practice, I'd pretty much always raise the river, but if the limper's likely to be playing extra tight, I guess something like 87's not very likely and that hand may well check the river. I don't really see a TAG limping TT or better here either. Given the action, you're probably against a boat at least 50% of the time. So yeah, this should just be a call. |

Re: 50/100 how much action?
Nobody likes the raise turn/free showdown play? If you don't have the best hand with the 9, then you still have at least 14 outs to improve, maybe 20. You'll learn a ton about where you stand by raising the turn. If you get 3-bet, you can easily fold for a river bet, even if it's the 9d, but you're getting so much more value esp with the calling station getting sandwiched.

Re: 50/100 how much action?
Raising the turn and then calling a 3-bet isn't what I call a cheap way to see the river/showdown.

Nobody likes the raise turn/free showdown play? [/ QUOTE ] I think you are behind too often and get three bet too often to make this play. I agree with only putting in one more bet on turn and river here. River call is hoping he either had a counterfeited two pairs, a hand like TT or JJ or something to that effect, or on the outside chance that he was semibluffing himself. He probably only calls a raise with the TT or JJ or a set (which seems a lot more likely than TT or JJ, and you may get reraised). |

would UTG play A8 or worse this way? does he slowplay big hands? if yes, you have to raise the turn. if not, just call.

Re: 50/100 how much action?
I actually agree with Stinky. Whether you raise is 100% depending on game conditions and your perception of the villian. From what you describe, I think you are better of calling. If this was a short handed game I'd be more inclined to raise.

folding if a 9d came on the river would be a joke.
