Default To all those who were offended or shocked by my opening post

I've been playing all forms of poker for 2 and a half years and have been a consistent winner for the last 2. I have beat these micro limit games and play 6-12 dollar limit at a local casino. I'm not as big a winner there as I am at the micro limits, but since I beat micro limit games and moved up I do think I am qualified to give my take on the game. I am not trying to force any lessons on anyone, just giving some helpful guidlines that helped me beat micro limits and increase my bankroll. I would however note that some of my ideas might sound strange, because I play more by feel and cannot set anything in stone. Id be happy to answer any questions from anyone or any tests to prove I know what Im talking about.

Thank you, i just think i was a little misunderstood. I just want people to realize that there is more to poker and situations than just playing by the book. You have to develope certain skills on your own to make more money. I have accomplished some of this and just wanted to share my opinions on some things to think about.

Welcome (again) to the forums. Your honest input is appreciated, however, you should be aware of the following:

1) To "prove" you know what you're talking about, you need to be able to put together coherent statements. For example:

[ QUOTE ]
Im more of an intuitive player, and that SSHE is a piece of crap.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bold claim with no support at all as to why your statement could possibly be true. Why is SSHE a piece of crap? What does being "more of an intuitive player" have to do with the quality of SSHE? Similarly,

[ QUOTE ]
Playing by the book will only make you a small winner or a break even player if you mistep even a slight bit.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bold claim, no support. Don't do this.

2) Check your ego at the door. Everyone around here who has lasted more than a few months has had their ego taken down a couple notches more than once. You can either learn from the experience, or become prideful and stubborn. One is good for your poker-playing and one is good for nothing. It should be clear which is which.

3) You're welcome to disagree. Just don't be a jerk about it (even if others are a jerk to you).

Sorry for my lack of clarity. Lasted more than a few months as a poster on this forum. There are good players who are crappy posters, and they don't last very long in the forum even though they may play very well at the tables.

PS - I don't get offended by things posted on this board anymore. Taking things too personally is a road to nowhere. Take the free advice for what it is and ignore the extra noise.

CrdShrk6,

I don't think anyone was offended or, much less, shocked by your statements. But I am sure they enticed a few grins. I second everything Aaron said.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

There are quite a few people here that can write their own book about poker. If you think we all have starting hand charts posted on our monitor and can't decide what to do in any situation without consulting 5 books - well, you are wrong.

[ QUOTE ]
I have accomplished some of this and just wanted to share my opinions on some things to think about.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am sure your opinions will be more than welcome, if they are enveloped in a more civilized and less authoritative form. Start by grunching posted hands and post your own - then we can at least assess what you are talking about.

Right now, I don't quite understant what your goal is on this forum. Obviously, you think you are great at poker and don't need to learn here, where we "play by the book". Is your goal to enlighten us all to the aspects of poker we misunderstand of totally oblivious to? Surely your first post was a step in a wrong direction.

Still, welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas!

PS: Where are Miles and Wookie when you need them?

Post some hands. Respond to some posted hands. Get involved in session reviews. In other words interact with the intent of learning and you will teach others at the same time. If "we" are too structured in our thinking here for you and there is nothing for you to learn, move up. Somewhere on this site someone knows something that would improve your game. Find it. Use it. Discuss it. And by doing so you will give back to those of us who are here to learn.

[ QUOTE ]
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the bond and option markets were dominated by traders who had learned their craft by experience. They believed that their experience and intuition for trading were a renewable edge; this is, that they could make money just as they always had by continuing to trade as they always had. By the mid-1990s, a revolution in trading had occurred; the old school grizzled traders had been replaced by a new breed of quantitative analysts, applying mathematics to the "art" of trading and making of it a science.
Similarly in poker, for decades, the highest level of pokers have been dominated by players who have learned the game by playing it, "road gamblers" who have cultivated intuition for the game and are adept at reading other players' hands from betting patterns and physical tells. Over the last five to ten years, a whole new breed has risen to prominence within the poker community..."
