Man, a lot of valedictorians in here huh? It seems to me that you guys haven't realized theres thousands of students with 4.0 gpas and 2300+ sat scores. And while credentials might seem worthless, STANDING OUT might be the most important part of college applications. Its all about how you market yourself; why should a college take you over another white male with similar stats, but has done something outstanding/unique that no other applicant has done?
To all who are bitter: I can understand, and I'm sorry you didn't get in. The top 4 people at my school applied EA to Stanford, and while all had better unweighed gpas and SAT scores, their ECs and other activities didn't really stand out, so I was the only one who got in. I'm not a college applications guru or anything, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But I hope this can help anyone finishing up their application. (Oh yea, being creative is almost always a plus, throw that in somewhere.)

as a white male who goes to harvard ('09 not '11) let me just say that all you whiners should shove it. you honestly think stanford gives a [censored] if you're asian? They're not handing out admittance to underachieving asians because they're asian, I'll tell you that much. Your 'stats' are only a small part of your application - maybe you got rejected because they could tell from your application that you're the type of person who thinks they're hot [censored] because they were valedictorian and did national honor society. Your extra 50 points on the sat are going to be pretty damn irrelevant in the eyes of the admissions officers, as well they should be. In conclusion, no, you did not get rejected because you're white. You got rejected because in their infinite wisdom (aka the small slice of your personality they saw) they decided that they'd rather have somebody else. deal with it and don't be racist.
