You do realize this is a throwback to '70s exploitation films, right?

I got to be an extra when they filmed DEATH PROOF at Guero's Taco Bar in Austin. My boy and me were just chillin' eating fish tacos and pounding margaritas and they grabbed us for extras. It was pretty cool.Got to see Tarantino and Kurt Russell. They hooked up two old Chevy Nova's in matte gray with bitchin' rims. We'll prolly end up on the cutting room floor but it was a cool experience.

It would be stupid with any other directors, but with these it is pure genius.

I think you need to wait and see before you make that kind of statement. It's certainly an interesting idea that could pay off, and certainly I would expect these two film makers to come up with the goods, but you have to acknowledge that this could just plain suck as opposed to ironically suck.

If that's the case, I've been wasting my life.

Fair enough, but I think that without a doubt at least the *trailer* is unequivocably awesome.

Tarantino = awesome. None of his feature films have disappointed me.

Rodriguez on the other hand, while an incredible visual director, lacks the storytelling ability of some of his peers such as Tarantino. El Mariachi was great, but it's been style over substance ever since. Note: I did not see Sin City. The machine gun leg is the perfect example. He is always doing stuff like this which is visually very interesting, but completely takes away from the story because it's not realistic. Having a movie with vampires or werewolves or whatever is great. But even in a world with vampires or werewolves, nobody would walk around with a machine gun for a leg. It serves no purpose other than to make for a cool trailer.
