wow, I wrote my previous posts without looking at the other replies. Am I really the only one who thinks he needs to have a stronger hand to justify an overcall?

There are only 2 hands stronger then top set..The caller makes a call by us even more correct..We are getting around 2 to 1 on our money..

yes..

Maybe its a glaring weakness in my game, but i can't fold top set here, in fact i can't keep the demon inside me form putting int he rest of the money..

He wants an over call, if he's not a retard he might have a set.. push, win set over set and hope the other guy doesn't draw out on you so you win the whole pot.

do not call his bet. just shove and get the money in while ahead. if he has the nut or second nut you have 9 and 10 outs on the 2 streets. also raise preflop to avoid this sticky spot.

the machine-

Do you really raise in that spot? a bazillion players preflop, a suspect limp UTG, they clearly are not all tight players because tight players don't make 5 handed pots at a 6max table. And these players tend to be calling stations, i see little value in raising, unless its a pot sweetener.

p.s. how bad were the buttons cards to fold in a 6 handed pot.

so, tell me, was it A,B, or C

A:

MP- horribly played over pair
CO- lower set
Hero, puts the money in and gets a bonerfied huge pot.

B

MP- KQs or something of the like
CO- Called your push, and had a lower set
Hero- puts money in with boobalicious cards and pot

C

MP- horrible played set
CO- idiot combo draw and sucked out,
HERO- put money in and thought it was a bad thing after he was sucked out on

yeah i raise. i typed out a long thing but firefox shut on me. so cliff notes on it. we call and we still get 3:1 on our money on the turn. if were behind were 4:1 to fill and villains range is larger then just the 2 hands were behind to. knowing this a shove is good because we might get FE out of a drawing hand, albeit very little which is ok because if he is drawing our money is going in good. and were def not getting away on the turn so this shove is ok.

my guess is he has a strong drawing hand. pair and a flush draw or TP and OESD

ohh i think i just realized you meant preflop. yeah this is an easy raise preflop. we build a pot up so when we flop big we can win a big pot. plus the dead money from limpers make it an easy raise. most people dont limp call with rags when you make a PSR. id go to 6-7 i cant remember who limped in front but 4xBB+1 and when it comes back to limper who has to call 6 more dollars lots of hands get folded.

FWIW i dont do this often at uNL but im playing 100NL at the moment and it is a profitable play at those stakes.
