Default Playing the $5\'s vs playing the $10\'s

I've recently gone busto because I played the $10 dollars with only a $80 bankroll. I'm going to deposit again some time next week, but I'm not sure how much I want to invest and what buy-in I should play. I don't really want to spend more then a 100 bucks. Does this mean I should only play the $5 until i double my bankroll ?

And can you guys tell me how I should adjust my play if i'm used to the $10's ? I allready read here that people on the $5's don't like pressure. How does that translate into beating them ? Does it mean I can slightly lower requirements for pushes ?

I am a BR nit and I want 100 buy-ins
Minimum is probably 50 though.

You might want to find an even lower buy in, like around 2-3

3.40s, certainly not too hard to drop 100$ in the 5s if your a new player.

Actually, I think that you need higher requirements for pushes, because at the lower level, they will more likely be calling with a wider range of hands that look good.

Also, you should look and try to figure out why you went busto. Was it bad calls? Playing cards you weren't supposed to be playing? Bluffing too much? Bubble play? etc..

I played some 50 cents and 1 dollar games, but the problem is that the buy-in is so small I don't really care enough wether i win or lose. Playing the $10 dollars gave me a rush because a win allmost doubled my bankroll Off course it made me go busto aas well... I heard that below $10 the players are so bad that it's hard to win because they're impossible to read.

50 buy-ins?? The guys not going pro in the $5's....he likely doesn't need to have zero chance of going busto....he just needs a low likelihood of going busto.

I say do the $5's....the rake is better than the 3.40's.....you might go busto, but if you're decent, you probably won't.

I think what made me loose a couple of games in a row is playing whilst very tired when after a long day at work, and a lot of bad luck when I get my pushes called on the bubble. That, and the fact I'm not much good at ICM yet. I have SNGPT but I don't understand it very well yet. I have a very hard time figuring out people's call ranges....

I like to play at a level where the money doesn't really matter to me or my bankroll. What's important is the long term. I like being at a level where winning or losing a game doesn't matter to me. For me having 60 buyins works.

What matters to me is that I make the right plays more and more, and that I get a good ROI over >500 games.

Post your hands....if you do that and study the answers, I think you'll find your results improve.

if you were beating the $5+0.50 I think you can start with 20BI. To move to $10+1, I would wait until I have 30BI If you are loosing, go back to the $5.

The other thing you can do is mix your game. Play 80% the $5 and 20% the $10 to start getting use to the new level.

GL.
