You still lose to overpairs but I don't think overpair is checking that river so you're ahead. Time for a VB no?

Since you are ahead of J8, placing the bet of "all-in" would be designed to get the weaker hand in this case, J8, to call. Therefore, this bet would be for value. Awesome-o!!

I would raise the flop pretty often v. unknown.

Turn is typically a fold, but could certainly be a call, with reads, or a push, if you don't think he'd ever fire a third barrel.

On the river, you jumped out in front of the medium overpairs, as well as 8x.

Very standard c/re-eval from overpairs and 8s, on the river, here, so I would just push, and hope to rep the missed draw.

hah. Missed that paired 3.

A shove looks much less attractive, now. I'd be pretty tempted to check behind, since we are rarely bluffing those hands out, and I don't know how much value you can expect to get from 8x.

That is what I was thinking as well. Don;t think that 8x is going to call (at least I wouldn't), since it only beats a bluff. Still think a/i is more of a bluff than a VB in this case.

A good question is if you are villain, what would you call all-in with v. this line?

He did not reraise preflop which is kinda unusual after a button steal (especially when we are talking about 99+).
