She either went on a bulemic binge or they airbrushed out 15 pounds cause she looks a lot chunkier on the show. Anyone who has seen the Hawaii 40$ a day can attest to this. [/ QUOTE ] She had her food bankroll hidden in her socks and spent way over $40/day |

Every time I see RR, I think of this lady (from Ciao Italia), and how this is her unavoidable future:

The point is this. There's a status that comese with being a "chef" that's pretty meaningful. It speaks to somebody's experience, and their status. Ray and Giada aren't on TV because they've launched/run sucessful establishments. They're there because they look good and maybe wrote a cookbook that sold. When Mario Batali, Ming Tse, Bobby Flay, do something, it carries a little bit more, because you know that they've done this for a living. [/ QUOTE ] I recently heard this description of the difference between a cook and a chef: A cook recreates others dishes. A chef creates his/her own dishes. |

Re: Who\'s the hotter Food TV Icon? Semi-NSFW
I just checked out Giada's show. She earned my vote.
Appearance aside, she also gets points for not treating the viewer like a total dunce. Only two comments made me laugh. While making a tomato and mozzarella salad, she told me to use fresh basil as opposed to dried because it has more flavor. Then after grilling quarters of romaine, radicchio and belgian endive, she said that she likes to chop them so that it's easier for her guests to eat. I will be on the lookout for a grilled salad this weekend. It's been a while. |

I guess you can vote for Rachel if you're into short, pudgy chics with no rack.

Iron Chef America
It's on right now.
DeLaurentiis vs. Ray (w/ Flay and Batali) Another airing at 2 p.m. Eastern Monday. I'm rooting for Giada, but I think Ray has the superior chef on her side. |

Re: Who\'s the hotter Food TV Icon? Semi-NSFW
Ok so I did a quick Wiki search, turns out Rachel is 38, Giada is 36. IMO this Giada bird looks older than Rachel. Also, I haven't heard Giada talk, but if she does what everyone else is saying (have no accent whatsoever unless she feels like it when mentioning certain foods), then that's [censored] annoying - the most annoying thing ever. For me it's a clear cut win for Rachel.
