PP 99 What would be the best play
Hello everybody.
This will be my very first post on 2+2 and I hope that I can learn a lot from all the members on this and hopefully my following posts. And maybe in the future I can give advise to others Ok here it comes: UTG is LP and passive postflop MP1 is TAG and passive postflop MP2 is TP and agressive postflop MP3 is TAG and passive postflop BB is LP and passive postflop There are 13 small bets in the pot and it's 2 small bets to me. What would be the best/correct play. Prima Poker skin Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.25/$0.5 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG+1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG calls, Hero calls, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 raises</font>, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 3 folds, <font color="#cc0000">BB 3-bets</font>, UTG calls, Hero ??? |

Re: PP 99 What would be the best play
Welcome to the forums.
First, raise pf. yes, call those 2 back to you. If you hit, you can make up the deficit, and hell, MP2 and MP3 will probably call making your call better. There is the chance of a cap behind you, closing out those bettors, but I call. |

Re: PP 99 What would be the best play
Limping or raising in early position with nines are both viable options.
Your have the implied odds to play this hand when it comes back to you, so you should call. |

Re: PP 99 What would be the best play
Why would raising 99 in EP be a good play?
Could you tell me how you have counted the implied odds for this situation? |

Second, you listed three folks as tight, which means they're more apt to fold if you raise. You'd prefer that with nines, but you certainly don't hate lots of players either because it also makes a big hand on the flop sometimes. Okay, you're going to hit your set on the flop 1/8 times. For your call, you're getting 1/6, since you're calling 2, I think you only need to make up about 5(or something like that) total bets for your implied odds. Easy to do if you hit. |

Could you tell me how you have counted the implied odds for this situation? [/ QUOTE ] Using a "dry" odds calculation of calling based on hitting a set (7.5-1 against) you're getting an immediate 6-1 on your call when it comes back to you. It's almost assured that you'll make up at least 1.5 bets postflop; there are additional reasons on why you shouldn't fold here. 1) Because of the increasingly attractive pot odds, it's very probable that the other callers are not folding behind you. 2) Consider also that since the pot will be large on the flop, it gives the other players, even if they are on the tighter side, great incentive to stay longer in the hand. So if you hit your set, you will be getting a good postflop overlay from the bets going in from the other players. |

Because it's much better than the range of hands the other players likely have. Also, you may get some better hands to fold out, especially from that TAG.

Re: PP 99 What would be the best play
I think you can call here getting 6.5:1 as your odds of flopping a set are pretty close to this.

Re: PP 99 What would be the best play
BTW, I like the PF once there is already one limper in here. I like it a limp at a loose table for set value. Seems like he was at a loose table.
