Default Overplaying AJ - 30/60 Stars

My limit game is pretty rusty, and I haven't posted here in a looong time, so I figured I'd try posting some hands I botched.

Opponent is 21/11/1.4.

Poker Stars 30/60 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">6 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (7.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.75 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, Button calls.

River: (12.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 15.75 BB

I thought I liked this line right up until he raised me on the river =\

what can you beat on the river/why bet? If he doesnt have a flush the way he played the turn he has KK QQ or TT and you just lost. C/C river seems better eventhough you are going to lose, would be nice to see if he capped the turn with less then a straight.

Why did you bet the river?

I decided on the turn I was putting in one more bet on the river. It seemed like a spot where his action was going to be straight forward. Seems horribly spewy after the fact, though.

ya the river is ridiculous... what can you beat? AA? and he caps AA on the turn, no way. At best chop.

yibas. You can fold this flop, you know. Obv, betting the river is silly, but you know that now.

8.5-1 immediate with at least 4 outs on average seems like plenty to peel.

I definitely wouldn't fold the flop here. An ace is good sometimes, 3 jacks give us the nuts, and the other one is good almost all the time. We also have some pretty good implied odds when we do have a jack against a lot of hands.

Capping the turn's pretty read-dependent. I'd say that it looks more like a set than a flush though, so it's not terrible. The only problem is that you're going to lose two extra bets when you're behind, and only gain one when you're ahead. I'd probably call the 3-bet more often than not, but it's close.

The river is obviously terrible. You're maybe against an overplayed KQ one time in 50, but otherwise, you're never getting value here. A good enough player might even fold that on this river. Check/call would be the best line here, followed closely be check/fold.

check/call the river. I would have just called the three-bet on the turn.
