BB ($29)
UTG ($22.40)
MP ($26.75)
CO ($29.10)
Hero ($25.25)
SB ($28.15)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

With no reads, fold. Why mess around when you're not in control of the hand? If you're not the one raising first, you really shouldn't be in many hands.

These thoughts assume that CO isn't raising light very often but has normal, i.e. conservative, raising standards.

AJ is a difficult hand. If you hit an A you are often behind a better kicker in a raised pot especially when the initial raiser is raising few hands (max 10 PFR). When you have a tight CO, his raise could be a PP higher than a J so you are still behind if you hit TP with a J. Moreover, AJ has very few ways to make a straight. So this hand can get you in a lot of difficult situations.
So I wouldn't advise a reraise. AJ (wether suited or not) is not strong enough to reraise, imo. I'd call and have a look at the flop. You have position and can evaluate what happens. I call mostly because I hope to flop a flushdraw so I can stack my opponent when he has a high PP or something like that. I don't call here with the intention to play a pair like the nuts when I hit. When I think CO is a very aggressive and tight player, I probably fold this hand.

fold or raise.

if u are going to play this hand, u want it to be heads up, and it's always better to be the agressor, that's why u should raise (if u are going to play) and not call.

But to decide if its either a call or a fold deppends on how villian plays.

If u are unsure of what to do, fold.

How often does UTG limp? I'd have no problems calling the CO raise here and taking a flop, but I be a bit cautious if UTG is acting out of the ordinary.

Well. Since I play this mostly for the flush, I'd prefer multiway-action, actually. But this situation is mostly read-dependant anyway. I see myself folding here most of the time.
