Re: 25 NL 6-max ... 33 finds trouble
calling on the flop I dont mind that much but after that I think its a fold I see so many bad players betting small amounts to get value out of there overpairs like this

Re: 25 NL 6-max ... 33 finds trouble
You were wrong on the flop, on the turn and on the river. The call before the flop is ok. But you are playing this to hit a set and stack your opponent. You can't call down with an underpair to the board even if his bets are quite small, unless villain is a really bad bluffer. That's the safest way to get busted again and again. Bet sizes escalate from street to street usually. So you will lose a lot if you call every bet and get shown a bigger pair but you normally win little, because most opponents will stop betting when they don't hit and fold if you bet or just check it through. So if your tiny pair is best, you win a small pot. This is called reverse implied odds.
Edit: and you are not really a drawing at a straight. You are at the "idiot end", i.e. the lower end and the straight is extremely obvious when the 4th card hits. So you won't make any money when he doesn't have an 8 but you'll lose even more when he has. |
