Default Bond drop on friday?

Hello,

I have a bond fund through Vanguard...the ticker is VWINX. It dropped about 4% on friday and I was just wondering what happened? Does anyone know why this fund dropped or was there some kind of bad news for bond outlook in general?

Any info or even a link to where I can find this kind of info would be great!

Thanks,

I don't know about this particular fund, but I'm guessing today was probably ex-date for an income distribution.

Looking at Vanguard's web site for this fund they distributed both cap gains and dividend income yesterday. Mutual funds are required to pass along these gains to shareholders. However, most shareholders will reinvest in the funds with their distributions. While the NAV dropped >4.0%, you will be receiving additional shares in the fund.

SMB,

Thanks a lot for the info! You were right...for some reason my vanguard was showing a lot less $$ for one day but now it is back to normal.
