The problem with figuring out things yourself is that you do need (at least basic/fundamental) knowledge of many subjects. Sure, figuring things out is of value, but you might become a hamster in a wheel never going anywhere to a good answer. You might gain more by reading a solution (and thinking through it the best you can).
Once you have a requisite knowledge, then figuring things out in depth on your own becomes more valuable. I guess it's somewhat of a chicken or the egg thing in some respects. |
