[ QUOTE ] I've been the manager at my Hut's buffet almost every day for the last 3 months ... ...I caught one of our servers a couple years ago doing this... [/ QUOTE ] At Pizza Hut for several years????? This is the saddest thing I've read today. [/ QUOTE ] I worked for Papa John's for almost 10 years until I got hurt in a car accident on the clock and they ran me off. Thank God for online poker. I agree with another poster. He's scamming and wanted a fat tip. Happens all the time in that industry. It's no wonder with how bad they treat people. |

Ok, I don't understand the scam explanation. OP stated that he only left a $3 tip and did not pay anyone anything. How did the server get the money? Don't tell me the scam is the extra tip?

[ QUOTE ] Working my way thru school. [/ QUOTE ] fair enough [/ QUOTE ] "Fair enough" is a great phrase, and i've found myself using it a ton this past year, since i've started doing sales. good filler after someone says anything. also, if i was a server, i'd do this [censored] all the time! i always tip large when someone brings something for free/comps me. i know the game, but it still works. |

[/ QUOTE ] He does this in hopes that the person will tip them huge, sometimes even the price of the check. So the customer saves whatever they would have had to tip, maybe a bit more, and instead of pocketing a $2 or $3 tip, he can walk with $7 or $8. |

He was definitely trying to pad his tips by scamming Pizza Hut. There was a server at the Pizza Hut I've worked at over the past four summers that did this. It was pretty obvious but she never got in trouble for it. Walking out with 50+ in tips after working the buffet shift when the other server only made 20 every day of the week. She had to be skimming.

Did you try to pay with cash? I don't like to charge people small amounts on CC's because it's too high of a cost. Was the coffee fresh? [/ QUOTE ] I did not have the opportunity to pay. As soon as I approached the counter she told me not to worry about it. At fist I was confused, but after she told me again I just said "thanks" and left. |
