can i beat online

how long should it take to find out if I can beat the 1-2 shorthanded holdem games online. I have a 800 bankroll and played about 50 hours so far and im down 150.

Comments and suggestions would be a great help

Agreed, get pokertracker, and then play some more, and then ask again. 50 hours isn't a great sample if you're 1-tabling (4500-5000 hands).

From experience, I don't think one can ever know for certain if he can beat a given limit. Variance is too much of a factor, and there are countless dynamic variables that come into play over the course of a session, day, ... year.

Sounds like you're starting out with some decent results and the inevitable optimism that comes along with it.

All you can do now is just keep playing your best, for thousands of hands, and see how things work out. Then every now and then take shots at the next higher stakes and see how you do .... and let the cycle continue.
