Hello all... I will be going to Las Vegas in August this summer with my dad to celebrate my 21st birthday (which will be in May). I will be playing 2-4 thru 4-8, maybe 5-10 but no higher. The only no-limit I might play would be 100NL(if that is even offered), but I would rather play limit. Also my dad plays blackjack pretty exclusively.
I was wondering where people think would be a good place to stay during our visit. Should we get a place in old town or on the strip? If it is cheaper in old town, then my dad would be able to give me more money to spend playing poker and whatever else. My dad doesn't really drink, but I will probably be intaking a good amount if that changes anything. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Downtown BLOWS... If you're going during the week, Imperial Palace is cheap (like $50ish a night), clean (enough), and close to everything...
If you stay downtown and are gonna play on the strip, that's like 1000 pains in the balls... |

[/ QUOTE ] 1/2 NL is the lowest NL and it's all 200-500 max buy ins. No 100 max. [ QUOTE ] I was wondering where people think would be a good place to stay during our visit. You're going to blow your nut anyways in town and you're only going to be in the room to sleep. As for drinks, they are complimentary while playing. |

So far it sounds like getting a decentely priced place on the strip is the way to go. Also after Photoc's post it looks like 2-4 thru 4-8 is where I will be at, maybe some low buy-in tourney.

Doesn't Luxor spread a $50 NL with 3 blinds? like 1-1-2 or something silly like that... when you get below 50 you can rebuy to 100... personally I think that sort of game stinks but it is lower than 1-2 200 max

You must be pretty damn excited about your trip to be posting about it 9 months ahead of time but I understand. 21 yrs. old and your first trip to LV.
CheapoVegas and AllVegasPokerare the standard resources for the info you need. Stay on the strip. You can go fairly cheap or ultra-expensive but stay on the strip. |

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Like the other poster said, the Luxor is the only option for 1/2 $100 max (it is $50 max and you can rebuy another $50 when you get $1 short off the original). I recommend staying on the Strip. If budget is a major factor, stay at IP, Circus Circus, Harrahs, Barbary Coast, or Excalibur. YOu will fine low limit HE everywhere. Good luck! |
