Here's an idea- Bees. Set up a small colony of bees near each door in such a way that the opening of the door will piss the bees off and cause them to defend the nest.

The advantage of this over another booby trap is that the bees will continually attack and the would be robbers will want to get the hell out of there.


Given that you will be aware of the bees presence, you will be able to take the proper precautions to protect yourself from harm when removing the bees upon your return.
