Let's try to figure out how much it cost.

Was it a new build?

My guess is $15 million.

[/ QUOTE ]

[censored] the US is cheap as chips

[/ QUOTE ]

No way that place is only $15 million.

[/ QUOTE ]

Texas land is extremely cheap. I live in Minneapolis area, and houses are worth about 2.5-3x more here than in Texas. California houses are generally 2-3x more than Minneapolis houses.

Would you rather live with your folks in the middle of Texas miles from anyone, with no friends and nothing to do except hit on the Hispanic maids, or in a huge apartment on 5th Avenue or Beverley Hills etc? Never been to the US but what I get from watching MTV Cribs is some mansions are better than others, and a huge place in the middle of nowhere (i.e. not LA or NYC) is still in the middle of nowhere....

[/ QUOTE ]

Believe it or not, some people like the middle of nowhere and hate big cities. Personally, I prefer the big city myself, would like a $50mil condo in NYC, but this is probably right in their wheelhouse. And really, would you live in a crappy 2 bedroom or this place given the choice?

[/ QUOTE ]

I never understood why people pay so much for condos. I don't know, I guess if I had a ton of dough, maybe, but still don't think so.

[/ QUOTE ]

The word "condo" is loosely used in this case. Said "condo" could easily use an entire floor of a high rise, or even multiple floors, with thousands of feet in square footage.

I never paid attention to US property prices but here's a load of high-high-end houses across the country, in the $20-$100 million region:

Probably you can get an idea where OP's place would fit in.
