Default Bubble Call Q9o????

In a 22 person tournament that stops play when 4 are left and awards 1-4 based on chip count. Down to 5, I'm big blind, they are 16K and 32K, I have about 90K after posting. All fold to SB, he slow calls, I make it 64K to go with Q9o, he raises all in....Do I call?

If I don't I have about 2 BB left, If I win the hand I will take chip lead and tourney ends with me in 1st. SB has been fairly tight but has made some silly calls. 4th place only pays $90+$180 buy in.

This is impossible to answer without you telling us how big the other stacks are.

Most likely, you should be playing very tight here. And either way, the min-raise is pretty terrible, especially in this spot.

A Hand History would be easier to answer.

As far as I can tell...

A check and see a flop, push instead of raise would both be better than what you did, because now the sb has put you in a tough spot with a weak hand.

As played it sounds like a call, but as other have said, what are the other stacks at the table and the payout etc.

need to know his stack size and some kind of a read.

If this guy would easily slow play, or you have ever seen him limp reraise, you should probably just check to see the flop. And of course insta push anything you connect with.

Given the minraise, you now have to call, due to the odds.

I think shoving preflop is likely optimal, if his stack is large, and if this opponent can lay down any kind of a hand, has folded after limping before, etc.

At least that way you have a small amount of fold equity in addition to the Q9o you are about to take to the felt with a hand your opponent likes.

Payouts are about $1000 1st, 700 2nd, 500 3rd, 270 4th.
All 5 stacks are very close.

Bhokie1 has the right play I think. Not what I did though! I called 8s, no help on the river, out on the bubble!

It was my first live tourney and played well excepting this fatal play.

Oh....I thought you meant in your original post that play stops and the last 4 receive an equal prize.

I would just push pf then.....with only 3BB's left and everyone having equal stacks. Picking up the blinds here is huge and if can build up a stack and push the bubble before it breaks you might be able to gain a lot of chips.

I don't really need the stack sizes here. If you only have 2BBs left after that action you need to call based on pot odds alone I think. You made a HUGE mistake by not pushing preflop. I mean what did you have here, like 4BBs to start the hand? Blind on blind, you have an above average ace with a short stack = EASY SHOVE.

He has to have a hand though, cause he most likely knows that you are potcommitted, even though it's a bubble..
