He probably means not to sit in the 3 seat in a live game. Going around the table, starting from the dealer's left, the seats start at "1" until you get around the table clockwise.

The reasoning I believe is that the 3 seat gives you the worst vantage point of the action. The 8 seat also gives you a pretty bad vantage point, but you get to act after the 3 seat on most occasions.
