Default Close with AK?

Stars $50/100. I open w/ AK on the button (K of diamonds) and ArtiePartie who I believe is very good (but I don't have a lot of hands on him) 3 bets out the BB I cap. 24T flop with 3 diamonds he checkraises and I call. Turn is a K and I raise he calls.

River is the 5 of diamonds he bets, I raise he 3 bets I call.

All comments welcome.

I don't know the dynamics of this game, never played this high but It looks good to me.

I might go to 3 town on the flop, I know I would for sure with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Could he play 99-QQ with one of which being a diamond this way. I thought JJ [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or QQ [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on the first read through the post.

Well played I think just calling the river is too weak. I'm still not sure how he can have the Ad and play it this way. If he had naked Ad and not AT (marginal preflop 3 bet) he isn't as good as you think.

River seems close. A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Qx seems to make up a fair portion of his range here though there's obviously some debate on whether he'd checkraise the flop with that or not. Raise-call is probably slightly better than raise-fold but I'd probably just call the river.

i think you should add A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Tx into his range. i agree with just calling the river

Looks pretty standard all the way. 3-betting the flop's pretty transparent and you'll run into a cap about 90% of the time, so I like the bet/call. Raising the turn and river are both mandatory since it looks like you're ahead 2/3 of the time in both situations. I almost never see a 3-bet bluff here on the river, but you've got the second nuts getting 15:1 and I don't see how you can lay it down. People do make surprising plays sometimes.

Villain has AJ with the A of diamonds MHNG. Thanks for all the comments. I was pretty sure I played the hand ok but sometimes I post and get surprising replies.

Thank you very much for your comments.
