Default A7o OTB

10/20, 3 handed. No PT stats. Been playing with sb HU some, a third just joined. SB is very bad, he's been limping all sorts of trash (73s in MP, cold calling K4o, etc. when table was full). He didn't really get too out of hand with over-aggression post-flop when we were playing HU, but did raise every third hand or so PF. He did not bluff at scare cards. He did do random donks with draws and utter garbage though when the game was full.

I open, he 3B, bb folds, i cap.

Flop: Q62
TUrn: 6
River T

I call each street.

ugh.

after you cap preflop and a not overly aggressive, very bad player leads into you on every street, what are you putting him on that A high no kicker beats on a board like this??

"utter garbage..."

Has he capped pf and donk thru with garbage in a bb? If so then it's a standard call down. If not then, I personally fold right away if a K or Q flop.

BTW, your preflop play should dictate your postflop play. When you raise, you are aligning yourself up for an early fold to further agression. Unless you're up against a maniac, you need to call the 3-bet preflop if you're planning on calling him down on most boards. If not then you can cap if you think it'll help you make a better decision later on.

Yeah, I think folding the flop after I cap is best. And I do completely agree that if I'm SD bound, i should just be calling the 3 bet.

I was up a bit from our HU play and I thought he might be slightly tilting. Also, the quickness of his bets made me feel that he was firing with anything. I didn't include these reads though, so i think the default should be to fold.

I won the hand, but felt ugly playing it.

It is pretty ugly. As a default from an outsiders perspective, I would have called 3-bet, peeled flop, and folded turn. However I know at the table there are certain players who you have to call down frequently because once they take the lead betting they don't give it up, even if they are betting air. I don't like your line but there are certainly times when it is appropriate.
