Default ($114) Flopped boat, overly protective?

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t1500)
UTG+1 (t1500)
MP1 (t1560)
MP2 (t1420)
MP3 (t1490)
CO (t1600)
Hero (t1450)
SB (t1480)
BB (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is in Button with 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG calls t30, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, MP1 calls t30, <font color="gray">MP2 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP3 folds</font>, CO calls t30, Hero calls t30, SB calls t15, BB checks

Flop: (t180) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, CO checks, <font color="red">Hero bets t120</font>, <font color="gray">SB folds</font>, BB calls t120, <font color="gray">UTG folds</font>, <font color="red">MP1 raises to t240</font>, <font color="gray">CO folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to t1420 (All-in)</font>

BB is a solid multitabler, no read on MP1. Was this line overly protective? I didn't want to give 7x a chance to catch up however, perhaps a CRAI on the turn may have been better. Thoughts?

i do love a turn c/r especially with chance that bb comes along behind. i feel like you arent letting them hang themselves on this hand, as you can easily c/r turn AI without letting villains get away.

You have the virtual nuts. Your raise shut out BB who was certainly going to put in 120 more. I agree, check raise the turn, and they are practically committed by then anyway.

Don't worry about a 7 drawing to quads or a fuller full house.

i dont understand what you mean when you say you dont want to let a 7 catch up... i mean you want to get it ai against a seven, and theyre gonna have a chance to boat up when all the chips are in the middle... you shouldnt be protecting your hand at all, you are trying to maximize value. i would do that by calling the flop raise to let bb put more chips in and to let random donkeys spew with random hands.

He has 4 outs to catch up if he has 7x, which is extremely likely. Calling and letting him further commit himself before you push turn seems well worth it to me.

This may be a dumb question; but if Hero just calls and then BB pushes (on flop or turn), do we worry, or just auto call?

I'm sorry but this thread is f'n ridiculous. If he has a 7 he has 4 outs. That means he has about 16% equity against you. When you have AA preflop do you try to scare people out to protect your hand? It's basically the same thing equity wise. You can't ask for a much bigger edge in poker. If yopu're waiting for a bigger edge you will never do good in poker. Please cold call this flop bet and get it all in on the turn.

Thinking about autocall with the 3rd nuts?! I think many 2+2 (me included) would shove this flop/turn as Villain with many overpairs like TT/JJ+...So don`t be worried about about quad 7 or 74...If they got it, then find a bridge and jump.
Actually you should be happy to get action, when you flop a boat, since you don`t get it usually...

Thanks for the feedback, agree it was a stupid thought process behind my play, will definitely take this line next time it happens (whenever that may be).
