Internet Poker and its impact on B&Ms
I used to go to a local casino in the Chicago area once or twice a week (Trump.. now the Majestic Star). It has a good 20+ tables and is probably one of the biggest rooms in the chicagoland area. For one reason or another I stopped going...
My question is what impact on B&Ms does the internet have? I went back to the majestic star today and they spread only 2 NL games 100 max 1-2 blinds 300 max 2-5 blinds both short stacked games... 50/60 BBs is a push fest and as expected the game was played that way. Also.. the seat fee charged there is completely outrageous.... I only brought $400 so I had to sit in the $100 game...... the seat fee is $6 / half hour... They are raking 1.2 stacks off the table per hour!!!!!!!! Although the players were your random collection of degenerates and drunks.... and they were beatable (I pulled out $600) I question how beatable a game where the rake is more than 10% of a stack per hour... it could almost be worse than playing blackjack!!! Any thoughts? Are other smaller local casino poker rooms this way all over the country?

I'm confused. We're dealing with apples and oranges here, aren't we?
How does a 50bb-60bb Max buy and a 120bb time / hour have any relation to Internet Poker impacting B&M games?

I believe the internet CREATED a whole new generation of B&M players who first played online. Me, for example.
I actually prefer B&M to online so KWITURBITCHIN about the rake and either adapt to the different style of play required live or just enjoying fondling your computer's joystick. I do admit that as an LA resident I have a good choice of live tables that most people in smaller poker communities do have not. IMO, LA & LV are the live poker Mecca's. If you live elsewhere, online is probably the best option. Each option has its price and each its own burdens. I am sorry if your local live options suck, but you should have seen how busy Commerce was Sat. night. I didn't see any empty table at any level. In fact, the night the new internet $ law went into effect, Commerce was jammed with the online crowd who needed their poker fix.

I started playing live before moving to the internet.... I just was wondering if the casino's are using the "internet boom" to get away with charging absurdly high rakes..... and to me 12% per hour is worse than a loan-shark.
Although if you don't see the max buy in being 50 BBs and having 12 of those raked off the table in 25-30 hands as a problem... well... Also... this room is not empty... it is full... 20-25 tables jam packed with hour+ waiting lists..... and the players are horrible. As far as the "live style"... live players generally seem way worse than internet players... I make about 4 trips to vegas anually... + occasional trips to chicago card rooms.... ... when the the average PF rasie is 10-15+ BBs... thats not style... thats silly.... and its what makes the game beatable.

Internet impact on casinos?
none People do not come out to Vegas to play poker, unless they are coming for the WSOP, etc. A weekend poker trip? Nope.

Thats like saying email has no impact on the post office....
I know I used to go and play live at local casino's a lot more.. maybe 30-40 times / year.... but now with the internet most of my local poker play is via the internet... I may go to local casino's once or twice a year... Also... Vegas is vegas... and I do go there just to play poker... several times a year. people will always go there... the ones taht suffer more are the local smaller casino's... like the one in Dubuque Iowa that recently closed for lack of interest...

I honestly can't tell if you're serious or sarcastic with your post...I'll reply as if you're serious.
I disagree. I've started making trips to Vegas just top play poker, and the opponents I see at those tables tell me that many others are doing the same. OTOH, my start in playing poker had little to do with the internet or with the advent of televised poker. Had more to do with moving to an area where live B&M play was legal and common.... If your post was sarcasm...well, I guess I really have nothing other to say...
