How do convince familty member that I won\'t become an addict
My family who dosen't know anything about poker thinks that all poker player will become degenerates and eventually lose all thier money. Is there anything I can say to convince them other wise. Has anyone else had any sucess convincing skepticle parents or friends about the merits of poker.

my mom thought the same. I constantly ran up my roll, paid some bills/ bought her some stuff and it's all good now.
it's also important to point out the fact that you can live perfectly fine w/o playing poker for a week or whatever, that it's not an addiction because you have full control over your poker craving. I guess another way to get at it is to explain EV, Standard Deviation, ROR etc but that's kinda hard.. standard advice is to take family to cruise with poker money etc lol

Randomly remove expensive items from the house and when asked about them act suspicious scream "NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME" and then go hide in your room for 3 days.
