UFC settled this debate a long time ago. [/ QUOTE ] Did the best boxer in the world fight the best UFCer in the world? If not, then the debate is not settled. Paul |

Did the best boxer in the world fight the best UFCer in the world? If not, then the debate is not settled. [/ QUOTE ] I'd pay to see that! The specialized press would very likely make the mixed martial artist a big favourite, based on what has been observed so far. Since it's generally agreed that the current MMA champ is Fedor, who would his boxer opponent be? I don't know jack about boxing... who's the best heavyweight boxer in the world right now? |

Re: streetfighter would win

[ QUOTE ] If they were given 100 lives, how many times would Fedor come out on top? From reading the replies here, it seems the belief is every single time. [/ QUOTE ] Nobody said Fedor was unbeatable. My guess would be that he'd win about 85-90% of the time through superior fighting technique and training. The rest is variance. [/ QUOTE ] Colm said that Fedor would win 100/100 of the time and that not to believe that boggles the mind. Here it is again, quoted from a post above in case you missed it: [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If they were given 100 lives, how many times would Fedor come out on top? From reading the replies here, it seems the belief is every single time. [/ QUOTE ] hand to hand, no weapons? uh yeah lol- to not believe this boggles the mind. [/ QUOTE ] |

Colm said that Fedor would win 100/100 of the time [/ QUOTE ] Well, Colm is wrong then. There's variance in sports too, especially in those like fighting where one well-landed punch can end it. |

Re: streetfighter would win
i will admit variance, to the amount that the world class boxer would win a few times in a hundred. the rest of them would get a time in 10,000.

[/ QUOTE ] Right, the boxer would win a few times out of a hundred, and a deadly military man who has killed with his bare hands before would win roughly once per 10,000 times. Logic at its finest. |

Re: streetfighter would win
It's kind of funny if someone really thinks that there's some kind of special moves that only army personel would know. I assume there actually are sophisticated ways of gouging eyes and fishhooking but probably all of them are very very old from the era of catchwrestling (or hooking/ripping), and at least some of the top UFC fighters have trained some catchwrestling techniques and probably come across these "deadly" techniques.
Fedor would probably school anyone in the world that's roughly in the same weightclass. |

Any argument that relies on moves that there's neither evidence they exist nor evidence they work in practice is pretty weak. In addition, the probability the military or whoever would invent some technique in isolation (that also can't be practiced to see if it's effective) that would be better than the output of the entire population is practically zero. The military is hardly interested in trying to develop new and better hand to hand combat - they use what's out there. Not only would it be fruitless, but it's not their game. Their game is better intelligence, strategy, tactics, weapons, etc etc. |

REMATCH A YEAR LATER BETWEEN NAVY SEAL AND MMA FIGHTER
THERE'S A LOT MORE TO THE STORY THEN WHAT HAS BEEN CIRCULATING AROUND ON MESSAGE BOARDS ABOUT AN ALTERCATION BETWEEN GAN MCGEE AND A FEW NAVY SEALS. IN ANOTHER MMAWEEKLY EXCLUSIVE, IT'S ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER TO THE DAY, THAT MOTHERS TAVERN, A LOCAL BAR IN SAN LUIS OBISPO HAD A RUN IN WITH NAVY SEALS FROM SAN DIEGO. SOME OF THE SAME NAVY SEALS RETURNED TO DOWNTOWN SAN LUIS OBISPO TO LOOK FOR TROUBLE ACCORDING TO ONLOOKERS. TEN FRIENDS, INCLUDING THE NAVY SEALS RETURNED BACK TO THE SAME SPOT THEY FOUGHT A YEAR AGO. ONE CAL POLY STUDENT TOLD MMAWEEKLY THAT 27-YEAR-OLD GAN McGEE (average UFC fighter) RECOGNIZED SOME OLD ENEMIES THAT WERE AT THE BAR A YEAR AGO AND TOLD A FEW OF THE SECURITY PEOPLE ABOUT IT; INCLUDING, UFC FIGHTER CHUCK LIDDELL. SCOTT MICHAEL FOXX, A 32 YEAR OLD NAVY SEAL, ATTACKED SEVERAL PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE BAR THEN WENT INTO THE BAR AND ATTACKED THE SECURITY OF MOTHERS TAVERN. THE NAVY SEAL THEN WENT AT IT WITH GAN MCGEE. HE APPARENTLY TRIED TO EYE GOUGE MCGEE AND MCGEE KNOCKED HIM DOWN WITH A RIGHT HAND. TWO OF FOXX'S FRIENDS TRIED TO JUMP ON MCGEE; BUT TO NO AVAIL, AS THE 6'10 MCGEE BRUSHED THEM OFF WITH EASE ACCORDING TO ONLOOKERS. MEANWHILE 15 TO 20 OTHER PEOPLE WERE FIGHTING IN THE STREET IN FRONT OF THE BAR AS THE FIGHT WENT OUTSIDE FROM THE BAR. THE CAL POLY STUDENT TOLD MMAWEEKLY, "ONE SEAL TRIED TO ATTACK CHUCK LIDDELL AND CHUCK LAID HIM OUT WITH A KICK." ALTHOUGH, LIDDELL THOUGH TOLD MMAWEEKLY'S RYAN BENNETT, "NAH, I GOT THERE TOO LATE. I WAS JUST MAKING SURE EVERYONE WAS O.K. GAN DID A GOOD JOB OF RESTORING ORDER BY HIMSELF. TYPICAL BAR FIGHT STUFF, NO BIG DEAL. "MEANWHILE FOXX, THE NAVY SEAL, RAN FROM POLICE...HE WAS LATER CAUGHT FOUR BLOCKS FROM THE BAR. LT. STEVE TOLLEY SAID FOXX HAD BEEN DRINKING AND REMAINED IN THE COUNTY JAIL ON THURSDAY WITH BAIL SET AT $20,000. "WHEN THE DUST SETTLES WE WANT TO GO BACK AND FIND OUT WHO THESE OTHER VICTIMS ARE", CROCKER SAID IN A STATEMENT. HE SAID POLICE WILL CONTINUE TO INTERVIEW THE OTHER NAVY SEALS WHO WERE AT THE BAR.
