you are totally wrong on all counts here kkf, and i think i have some insight on the issue.
i grew up mostly in the uk and the muslim world; london, riyadh, colombo, mumbai and amman. as a teenager, i lived mostly in vancouver, canada and hong kong, although i spent signifigant periods in singapore, kuala lumpur and putrajaya. as an adult, i've lived in paris, los angeles, seattle, vancouver, london and kuala lumpur. it's hard to generalize across cultures, but in general, i've experienced that the more submissive and deferential the women, the less stereotypically masculine and dominant the men. the more women exercise their control over the men in their lives, the more the men react by asserting their own control when able. american men are probably amongst the most masculine in the world by your definition. if you want to talk about what countries have the highest proportion of 'AFC's' then you have to start with the nordic countries, russia, south asian countries and, in particular, japan. it's probably lowest in latin countries and southern european countries, and that's despite catholic domination and stereotypically dominant women, far more so than american girls. |

talent is amazingly accurate. Manly men don't need to have some woman to boss around/beat up on. BUT isn't AFC average frustrated chump?!? Why in the hell would you be frustrated in a sexually open situation like the Nordic countries?
KKF, I'm sorry you live in a time warp. Asian men rival only the French as pussies and azn women aren't hot. White people rock. |

This post is friggin ridiculous. The definition of masculinity differs from culture to culture so who's definition are you using to gauge your subjects? ~J [/ QUOTE ] you've committed the relativist fallacy ! masculinity is an objective characteristic that depends on one's physical stature, gumption, heterosexuality, and ambition. everyone knows this. everywhere. |

At the sametime, American men are probably the least masculine I have come across. [/ QUOTE ] California =/= America |

I have never left the US, but the sicilians and albanians that I am good friends with are tough dudes.
kkf, you asked what happened between the 50s and today, it was the baby boomers and hippies that ruined everything. |
