Re: 10-20 Live, A Time to Fold
[ QUOTE ]
Table is 'very loose passive'. 2 pair would've likely raised the flop. He has a set or the str8. The other guy seems to be on a flush draw so the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is no help. It's tough, but the fold looks like it's on the turn. If it was a more LAG, postflop table, I might see a turn call. b [/ QUOTE ] Great point Bernie about the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] being a tainted out. I concluded that Player 3 was on the flush draw from his quick cold call on the turn but didn't modify that lost out into my count. Also in hindsight I recall playing a hand with Player 2 in the past where he smooth called to showdown with 2 pair on an uncoordinated board to my top pair. His raise on this hand should of been a red-alert to a monster hand since he is very passive. Thanks. |

Re: 10-20 Live, A Time to Fold
If you're not going to fold to a turn raise,it's better to just check-call the turn & river, imho.

Re: 10-20 Live, A Time to Fold
uh, no. If you're not going to fold to a turn raise, learn how to. Regardless, you still HAVE TO BET THIS TURN.

Re:CardSharpCook
I didn't make my comment very clear.I believe that the turn bet is best, also.I was saying that IF you do intend to make the wrong play of calling the raise, you would be better off checking & calling.
Again,CSC,I agree with you exactly. |

Re:CardSharpCook
I'm not sure we entirely agree, but perhaps I'm mistaken. I rank the plays here as follow:
1. (best) bet the turn, fold to a raise. 2. bet the turn, call down if raised. 3. (worst) check the turn, call down. You have to bet into the field on this turn. We don't yet have any evidence that they've surpassed our overpair. You are ahead here often enough to demand that you bet. Once raised at this live, nitty (postflop) game, you have to assume you are behind. When another player cold calls, you know that he either has 2P or a flush draw, or possibly even a set. Now is a good time to fold. IF you are drawing live, you've got about 5 outs, and that's a big IF. |

you can't lay that down. [/ QUOTE ] Realistically , in my mind I can save two big bets here. Remember i'm not complaining about being sucked out on, I just feel this is a leak (overpairs) I need to plug in my game. IMO CardSharpCook hit the nail on the head with his assessment and shut the case on this one. Thanks Li. |
