How to beat $40NL at Commerce Casino?
I know some of you hate to play these low limits since the blinds/stack relation is so bad and I agree, but it seems like the best way to get started on NL cash games when you have a small BR.
I started playing these games using Sklansky's short stack strategy, but then I realized that pretty much everyone was playing short stack (except for people that had already won some chips). It seems like this makes the whole dynamics a little different. So far it's been ups and down and although I haven't played enough hands to really make a conclusion it doesn't seem like a game I can beat on the long term, while on the other hand I'm able to come on top when playing 25NL online. So in your opinion, what is the best way to play on these tables? Thanks! (This is about a B&M cardroom game, but also about small stakes strategy, so I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this post...) |

Re: How to beat $40NL at Commerce Casino?
I don't play NL at such small stakes but I don't see how SSHE would be of any benefit to you on this game. You're either looking to play monsters all in or looking to play suited connecters to beat those playing monsters. I can't see a whole lot of post flop play going on until you've built up a decent stack and are going up against another deep stack. Problem then is that you would still have to play a lot differently than SSHE to get past the flop.
If I'm wrong then I'm sure the regulars who do play $40 NL will correct me. |

Play online, or work extra hours(instead of playing poker) until you save enough money for a decent BR.

Good quetion that I too was wondering about. At Oceans 11 casino they have the $40 max with blinds of 1 and 1. Usually pretty loose play so I assume that you really don't have to adjust too much just play strong hands in Position.

The blinds are 1/2.
Any more thoughts about it? I'm going tonight and I'd like to try some other approach... |

I just feel that it has to be a good way to win on these tables since the action is lose. Also I'm afraid of moving up when I haven't been able to beat these low games. |

With them taking $4 a hand for the rack, I don't think you can beat these games.

1) Don't play. Rake is too much in relation to what's on the table, and the opportunities to outplay people are slim, sessions will feature about 85% of hands going to showdown.
2) If you must play, no bluffing, play TAG, and get as much money in preflop as possible with big pairs. Go right ahead and open shove AA/KK/QQ, I suspect you will get plenty of calls from nonsense like AcTc and 77. |
