Re: My first post in this forum - How badly did I play this?
Ok, my thoughts after the hand:
Question 1: What do I do if button pushes the turn. I was scared of that at the time and felt like a deer caught in the headlights. And yeah, if I push the flop I avoid that situation so maybe that's best. Question 2: Should I bet the river? At the time I felt I had the best hand but button could be slowplaying a full house, I mean he doesn't have to bet turn with a full house right? Still I felt I was best but was too chicken to bet. Question 3: It occurred to me only later that maybe I should have pushed the flop as some have said. Is this totally clear? The more I think about the better that play seems. At the time I was thinking something like gee I have a drawing hand against a zillion opponents, just call and see what happens. |

I'm new here too, but if you're going to call a pot-sized bet on that turn, which looks to be about the worst card in the deck for you, you should've pushed the flop for sure.
You could already be ahead, but even if not you've got a ton of nut outs. |

Re: My first post in this forum - How badly did I play this?
SOOO sooooo standard. I think a lot of the time (like 65% or more) you should be raising the flop. You're a coinflip against one person with the naked straight, against 2 or more your equity is pretty good so I might raise and hope that a few people will stick in the pot with the nuts. Against the c-bettor you have good value also as your gutshot may be live. As it stands you probably won the pot on the river and i wouldn't generally be thinking about betting for value.
