this is one of those spots where absent a read it really doesnt matter what you do.

when i posted this hand this is what i thought and i think it's still right

i put him on A9 or AT of clubs, bottom set, A5, QJ/QT/JT clubs. i took a lot of time to think about the ranges and folded

i asked him if he had A8 of clubs when i folded and he showed A9cc.

I'd raise more pre-flop, and fold as played. As others have said, you're a slim favorite when ahead and likely to be crushed when behind.

There's so much dead money in the pot that I like a call.

You only need to be about .45 in this hand to make money calling.

Given his position and the preflop action he can't have AK, AA, or KK here, so his range is heavily weighted to flush draws. If he's 4:1 flush draw:2 pair+, then you're looking good for a call.

meh this is pretty strong w/ 55, but obv a lot of people play 55 like that. i think its either 55 or draw, some of which ure 60/40, some ure 45/55. i think with the pot odds u get, call seems right

According to twodimes.net you are break even:
Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Kc 5c Ad
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
As Qd 432 43.64 444 44.85 114 11.52 0.494
Ac 9c 444 44.85 432 43.64 114 11.52 0.506

So, how much you need to be confident with your read (Ac xc) to have a call here?

pretty much what id expect. for what its worth, though, i always call in spots where i figure this. for a ton of reasons, meta and beyond, but the simplest reason is... gambling is fun.

even money to win is not 'break even' getting close to 2:1 on your money. obviously.

I was @ the table for this hand, that guy makes some strange plays, but I don't think he plays a set like that, I think it's a call vs him. also, would the hand change @ all if u really did have AJ (like u said @ the time)?
