You have three overs to a weak board - good hand to raise with in stud high. In stud low you have a hand that should instantly hit the muck unless you're in a good steal situation. The board says stealing is a bad move with all the babies out there.

Are you talking about Razz? Wouldnt I want to play this hand because with all of the low cards out I am drawing to probably the best high hand? Or are you saying that in stud 8 I should always have options for going for the high and the low in the pot?

high drawing hands are money losers in stud 8 because typically your odds are cut in half. Try to play live big pairs which are obviously the best high hand on 3rd and play them against at most 2 opponents if possible. Low hands have the most value - 8/b is a game of low str8's and flushes, not so much a game of big cards; any 9-k in your hand should make you question playing the hand.

At first I thought this was stud high. Even in that game, AJT isn't that great of a hand. In high-low it's complete crap. Muck it without second thought. Muck fourth street in either game as well. I don't really know how to play high straight draws in this game, but I'm guessing that fifth and sixth are folds as well. Your raise on the river only makes you money if the other guy has a weaker high hand and no low. Between the chance that he's got a low and the chance that he has a full house, I'd say your raise probably has negative expectation.

Virtually all decent starting hands in stud/8 consist of low cards. Even big pairs (99-KK) are weakish/tricky hands to play. Even if you make a good high hand, it'll often be for half the pot; and low draws frequently back into straights and flushes.

Not to mention the fact UB raking the penny tables 10% is a bad beat in iself.
