I could well up pretty easy watching Gretzky sitting on the Olympic team bench the year he played, realizing they had lost and would not win the gold medal, and that he wouldn't be back for the next one.

Watching Hank Gathers die on the court. That was awful.

Man, I just got misty thinking about that one.

I was going to say this if no one else had. Watching that was terrible

He was such an amazing story, coming back from everything he did. Watching his arm shatter was probably my worst baseball moment. Of course, I'm not a Cubs fan...

"Humberto Muņoz Castro was found guilty of Escobar's murder in June 1995 and sentenced to 43 years in prison. Muņoz had been working as a bodyguard.

The sentence was later reduced to 26 years due to his submitting to the ruling penal code in 2001. Muņoz was released on good behavior due to further reductions from prison work and study in 2005 after serving approximately 11 years, in a controversial move [3]."

Remind me to never go to Columbia ever. Killing someone over a mistake is only okay when the person in question is a referee.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but Donnie Moore's story is pretty depressing (following the HR he gave up to the Red Sox in 86).

ok, I'm not an American, nor old enough to remember Pre as his story unfolded, but would he be remembered the way he's been if not for the crash? I can't help but think he was a product of the American hype machine, and might have ended up as an earlier version of Dan and Dave if he hadn't passed the way he did. Sorry if I'm off base, not trying to make light of this.
