You cheap [censored] have probably never delivered pizzas or bartended or worked in any other service industry. $25 is the bare minimum.

[/ QUOTE ]

I never understood how working a crappy job means you should get tipped well. And yes, I have worked in the service industry.

Why tip someone for a job I’m capable of doing myself? I can deliver food. I can drive a taxi. I can, and do, cut my own hair. I did, however, tip my urologist. Because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

UPS drivers make a darn good living(union). Pizza delivery drivers don't.

These arguments don't matter. Tip him however much you feel is appropriate. If it were me, I'd give him $20 and feel he got a good tip.

20 is fine

For an order of $17, leaving $20 to the pizza delivery man is fine. If the establishment felt they were losing monies by delivering to your area, they would no longer do so, forget the distance.

I think it's $20 or $25, with attitude being the determining factor, or just general impressions of the guy. I tip extra for guys driving some old POS. New cars get no sympathy tip from me.

I don't understand you americans and your retarded tipping customs, what does a delivery driver do that the UPS guy doesn't? You don't tip the UPS guy do you?

[/ QUOTE ]

UPS delivery guys have union jobs that pay at least $20/hour. Pizza delivery guys make $5/hour. The "retarded custom" here isn't the tipping, it's paying people $5/hour in the first place.

"You shoud tip just a bit less than you would be willing to accept as paymnet (discount on the $17 price) for retrieving the pizza yourself."

so around $150 should be fine.
