Default Mucked winner on end - Fairly Big Pot - retarded

I'm eating a New York strip at the Tulalip WA $100 - $300 NLHE Game ($3-$5 blinds). I'm in the BB with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and about $625 in front of me.

MP raises to $15, 2 callers, Button folds, SB calls, I call.

Pot$75
Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I bet $30, MP raises to $75, 2 folds, SB calls, I call.

Pot - $300
Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, Mp bets $120, SB calls, I call.

Pot $660
River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB checks, I check, MP checks. Totally oblivious to my straight, I mumble something like "I missed" through half a mouthful of steak while digging around for my cards. SB mucks disgustedly, MP doesn't wait for me and turns over an Ace and a 3, and I throw my "busted flushdraw" facedown into the muck.

Weird thing is, as the cards left my hand, my subconcious (or whatever) sent a jolt of panic through through me. I didn't suddenly realize exactly what had just happened, I knew only that something was terribly wrong with what I had just done.

After about 2-3 seconds of careful, and adrenaline fueled thought, I realized, and got up from the table with my hands on the sides of my head.

No one at the table noticed my reaction, they were watching MP rake in the pot. I said nothing, sat back down, and just sat there wallowing in my retardation.

I'm hoping that talking about it will help me get past it.

Please flame away. Please.

Why do people continually subject themselves to the wrath of BBV?

What is the point of mucking if you're going to tell everyone you missed your flush draw anyway?

Edit - at least you didn't choke on your steak. I assume you lost your appetite though.

so you can miss a gutshot on a 2 flush board and claim the more respectable hand.
