For cash games only, what does everyone prefer to do when they hit a long cold spell? I mean 2 or more hours with almost no playable hands.
Do you wait it out with the assumption it has to turn around eventually? Do you change seats at the same table? Do you change tables? Do you change casinos? |

Take a break and try again later, cold spells tend to affect my play so getting up works for me.

[ QUOTE ]
Do you wait it out with the assumption it has to turn around eventually? [/ QUOTE ] No, I wait with the assumption that in the next hand dealt I have the same chance to get a playable hand as I did last time I was in this position at the table. I have never played live, the advice below however is correct. [ QUOTE ] Do you change seats at the same table? [/ QUOTE ] Depends. Is there a better seat at the table? If so, move. If not don't. Changing tables won't on average change the cards you get either way. However, your position relative to others could change what makes your hands playable. Maybe I've had no playable hands because solid aggressive players are always acting after me so I've had to fold hands I could play if I were on their left. [ QUOTE ] Do you change tables? [/ QUOTE ] Is there a better table? If yes, move otherwise it's perhaps not a good idea. Assuming not it would only be a good idea if you would otherwise go on tilt due to your misguided notion that the cards you've been getting somehow affect the cards you do get or because you're getting bored and will thus play that beautiful 37o utg next hand and changing tables would help with that. Changing tables will not on average change the quality of cards that you will get. [ QUOTE ] Do you change casinos? [/ QUOTE ] Basically see table change discussion above. Again, changing casinos will not on average change the quality of cards that you will get. |

This happened to me the other night playing live 3-6 LHE except it was more than 2 hours. Same went for the O8 and Stud8 that I played. Complete garbage hands all night. I think that it was just one of those nights where I got really bad starting hands but that said, I limited my losses a ton by not playing a lot of the garbage I was dealt. As it was I dropped about $80 for the night but I figured that if I had played a lot of those trash hands I could have been down way more than that amount. It really kills me not playing any hands but I try and remind myself that it is a good trait to have such discipline to be able to recognize a cold spell with bad cards and mucking them. I have really opened up my starting hands a lot at all games but trash is still trash IMO.
